This stack puts to rest the myth that a variety of printers cannot be easily connected to a Macintosh computer. This stack contains information on different laser, dot matrix, inkjet, thermal transfer, daisywheel, and color printers. For each printer, we have listed the manufacturer, model, imaging method, emulation, interfaces, and the GDT product that is needed to let a Macintosh print to it. In addition, some printers will have step-by-step instructions on how to set up the printer for use with GDT products.
If you can't find your model in the list, please refer to the printer’s manual for setup information. Most printers are preconfigured from the factory to work correctly with GDT printer drivers. If you are unsure weather your printer is supported, don’t hesitate to contact us regarding compatibility (contact info is listed below). If you know of printers or setup information that we are missing, please contact us so we can put it into the next stack.
Our drivers require a Macintosh Plus/Classic or better running System 6.0.7 or higher (System 7 recommended) and a hard disk drive. Laser printers should have one megabyte of available memory (1.5MB total RAM recommended for most models).
Some printers listed in this stack as being not supported by a GDT driver may actually be supported but another emulation (e.g. PostScript) may be more capable. If you need to use a printer’s emulation that is not listed, please give us a call.
